Buying the hype: The Off-Shoulder Dress

You know the hype: the whole off-shoulder Zara dress that bloggahs laaarve, except this isn't from Zara 'cause I'm cool. Plus with this week's scandal that popped up, I won't be shopping from there for a while.

This rose and floral embroidered number is actually from Åland, a Korean store selling different brands famed for their trendy and hip pieces. And we all know how much for a trendsetter and hip person I am, right? RIGHT?! This is actually a really floaty piece, more so than the blue one from ASOS which is a firm fashion bloggah fave.

Over the weekend, we chilled out at Carnaby Street's #StreetEat with some friends, got some ice cream and celebrated a friend's birthday over drinks in Islington. Now that's a trendy neighborhood.

I guess this post isn't worth much save for the fact that I need to ridicule myself on how I bought into the hype of buying this dress. I mean, I like it because it accentuates the shoulders and is incredibly fun to wear during the summer but next year's trend is going to be something like stomach cut-outs or something ya know...

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather, but let me know if you've suckered yourself into buying into a trend too???? I promise that the travel posts and photos are incoming, editing them is a pain when you have 2 weeks' worth of pictures to sift through!

The Quintessential White Summer Dress (and hidden gems of Soho)

THE WHITE DRESS

My grand summer comeback could not be more fitting – a white floaty silhouette in a buzzing and humid city, Saturday afternoon, iced tea, colours everywhere.

Being away for two weeks at home was all sorts of wonderful, and it was a sweet comfort to eat, talk and laugh, despite our very busy schedule. More on our Asian adventure soon, and very cool snaps :-)

Yesterday, after a week being thrown back into work (went straight from landing at 5am to work at 9.30am you read this right) we decided to take a saunter out about town, trying to catch Pokémon (but servers were down) and cooling down!

Summer is synonymous with clean and crisp, and this dress is the physical fashion form - I picked it up right before we left for holiday and it's such a flattering cut, airy and comfortable to wear. My favourite kind of garment. It's (of course) from blogger-fave Zara, and fits my petite figure surprisingly well. Mine is this one, but it seems to be sold out online but there's so many other options on the website at the moment, and you can check it out here... #notsponsored #duh

YUMCHAA BERWICK ST

Yumchaa is a definite favourite of mine whenever I'm around Soho because they do great iced teas (!! like hello London can you please get on this, not everrryone drinks coffee). The only other place which has decent iced tea is Cutter & Squidge on Brewer St which I talked about here... They have some really cool choices up for summer and my pick was Matcha Peachu ^_^ a matcha blended infusion with peaches!

A small London chain with exotic and endless brew choices, it's my summer favourite whenever I don't want a full blown chai tea and opt for a pineapple and coconut white tea <3 it also has bright natural light and huge windows, perfect for bloggahs~ plus the reason I like it so much owes to the fact that there's a scarcity of tea cafes in London! (unlike Asia... sigh.)

PICTUREHOUSE CENTRAL

Because I finished the aforementioned Matcha Peachu drink on my own in addition to my very small bladder, I needed a toilet. No surprise there. Picturehouse Central proved to be a good destination. Not only did they have bathroom facilities (ha), it's also a (fancy) cinema showing less known films and documentaries, and they have a very cool café and restaurant area on the first and second floors.

We've been there for a snack before and really enjoy the atmosphere. So if you're thinking of popping into a shade for some rest but don't want to go to Starbucks, then you should enjoy PC. It's got very very cool decor too ;-)
