Unfortunately lumps and bumps are no strangers to me, but here are my top 3 skincare superheroes to combat the superbaddies that is cystic and hormonal acne. These are my secret products, but since the holiday season is approaching, what better way to share the joy?
STEP 1: SOOTHE
The worst thing you can do when you're suffering from stressed out, inflamed skin is to put a load of cream on it and expect it to heal itself. My first go-to saviour is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask and it's great for calming down distressed skin, especially during a freakout! The best thing about this is that it's a 10-min job - put it on while your kettle boils and wash it off to enjoy your tea afterwards. It's not harsh at all, and has a very pleasant and clean smell. The rich plant butters also help revive the skin when you're not feeling great!
Available from FeelUnique with 15% off with the code MAKEITMAGIC before Monday!
STEP TWO: HEAL
Now, I've raved about this little gem already before in my top 5 favourite and affordable green beauty brands so it needs little introduction. In all, the Weleda Aknedoron Purifying Lotion is a brilliant concoction of all that is soothing and treating the skin when it's at its worst. It works well with cystic acne outbreaks too without spreading it to your entire face (nightmare!).
Weleda is a brand that I've come to loved over the past year and again, one that doesn't break the bank account. Go forth and enjoy!
You can also get this from FeelUnique for 15% off before Monday midnight.
STEP 3: PROTECT
Finally, the star of the show: the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask, despite the mouthful, is the best lactic acid masks out there to give you dat Christmas holiday glow y'all love. It's a quick and easy way to renew skin cells, which is awesome in getting rid of hyperpigmentation and acne scars. Jam packed of glycolic, lactic and citric acids, it refreshes your skin to give your ~fresh~ looking and smoother complexion.
If you have sensitive, leave it on for 10 mins (as opposed to 15-20 mins) with warm water so your skin can calm down. But often, I find that even my skin (which reacts to *anything*) loves this product that it definitely is one of those products where it does what it says. You'll rarely hear me say that, that's for sure.
Get it from REN this weekend with 35% off! I give you all the treats eh?
As I write this, my skin is definitely going through a bad bout of allergies and I've just put on the FAB Instant Oatmeal Mask and it's already feeling much calmer! They aren't my top skincare superheroes for nothing! Let me know if you've tried any of these – whether you liked it or not, or other products I need to have that you consider your superhero ;-)
P/S: I wished this was sponsored, but it's not. Sharing this gives me comfort to know that I'm not suffering with problem skin alone, ha!
